You've found the perfect wall fan — now it's time to hang it. The good news: it's a simple job that usually takes less than 15 minutes. Here's how to do it securely, whatever your wall type.
What you'll need

Step 1: Choose your spot and height

Step 2: Work out where the hook goes
Most wall fans hang from a single loop at the top centre. To find your hook position:
- Hold the fan up by its loop (a helper makes this easy) and note where it looks best.
- Measure from the loop down to the lowest point of the fan.
- Add that measurement to your chosen gap above the furniture, then mark the wall at that height, centred over the furniture.
Step 3: Choose the right fixing for your wall
Always check that your hook or hanger is rated for more than the weight of the item, and suitable for your wall type.
- Plasterboard (drywall): use a picture hook or wall anchor designed for plasterboard, or fix into a timber stud behind the wall if one is in the right spot.

- Timber panelling: a small screw-in hook usually works well.
